Onysiia Syniuk is a legal analyst at the Center for Human Rights ZMINA, a Ukrainian NGO working with human rights and war crimes documentation within the Ukraine 5 AM Coalition, specializing in international law. Since Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Syniuk joined the Coalition as a volunteer and later as a legal analyst representing ZMINA. As a legal analyst at ZMINA, she monitors state policies concerning responsibility for war crimes, crimes against national security, and the status of people affected by armed conflict.
As part of ZMINA and the Coalition, Syniuk takes part in producing reports on violations committed within Russian aggression against Ukraine. In particular, she co-authored a series of reports on deportation and forcible transfer, a report on the forced conscription of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territory of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, and several pieces on illegal detention and torture based on victim testimonies. Since June 2023, Syniuk has also taken up the co-coordinator role for the Coalition's analytical work.
